Here at NSF NCAR and UCAR, we believe that creating an environment that is welcoming, fair, supportive, and accessible for all of our employees is critical to the fulfillment of our mission. We are dedicated to ensuring that our workplace is a vibrant, creative, and growth-minded environment that embraces and values everyone’s many identities and viewpoints as essential to our collective success.
If you join us, you will find that creating an ethical, welcoming, and supportive workplace is both part of your job description and a core competency in your annual performance evaluation, as it is for every one of our employees.
Our institutional commitment
We firmly believe that creating an ethical, fair, welcoming, and supportive workplace is the responsibility of everyone. Our strategic planning around these commitments is led by UCAR’s Office of Access, Culture, and Opportunity (OACO) in deep collaboration with all labs, programs, centers and offices. OACO supports all aspects of this work, from developing good practices and reviewing policies and procedures to championing ethical and mutually-supportive ways of doing science research. In addition, the team supports UCAR’s Employee Resource Groups, offers in-depth training in related topics, and provides all UCAR’s employees with resources, interpersonal skill-building, coaching, and conflict management.
If you have questions about UCAR’s commitment to access, a caring and supportive workplace culture, and fair opportunities for all, or about what it’s like to work at UCAR or live in Boulder County and Colorado as a person of color, a member of the queer community, someone with a disability, or any other identity or intersection of identities, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we’ll do our best to answer your questions.
