Mission

Our mission is to create a community of individuals working to promote fairness, respect, and opportunity for everyone in the workplace.

MARS is a group open to all employees (interns, term, casual, visitors, and full-time). We strive to recognize and address behaviors that create unpleasant experiences in the workplace. We aim to mentor and foster a network of individuals who are committed to creating a positive environment through active support and partnership.

MARS is designed to be a learning space where participants can reflect on their actions and assumptions, engage in meaningful discussions, and develop tools to better support their colleagues. While this process may sometimes bring about difficult conversations, we believe these are essential to enabling stronger workplace relationships. Together, MARS members work to promote fairness and set an example of accountability for others in our broader community.

Goals

  • Build a network of individuals dedicated to platinum level treatment for everyone in the workplace.
  • Raise awareness of workplace challenges impacting colleagues and highlight actions that can help address them.
  • Help members identify and improve behaviors that may unintentionally create obstacles for others.
  • Actively listen and support coworkers to ensure their concerns are respected and addressed.

How to Participate

Any current NSF NCAR, UCAR, or UCP employee or participant is welcome to join MARS activities. Employees can find MARS in Google Groups to stay updated on upcoming events.
