Strategic investments into research and technology are imperative as we seek to improve forecasts for America's densely populated coastlines and low-lying areas.

The threats to lives, livelihoods, coastal infrastructure, and military assets from hurricanes, flooding, and other natural disasters — and our ability to respond — require an integration of science in real time to address sea level rise in the near and long term and to determine how best to plan for future changes to our coasts.

Experts in meteorology, storm surge, flooding, national security, and other disciplines are working together to improve forecasts and better communicate the threats to those at risk.
